Lincoln, Douglass Tubman & Brown: Four Threads in the Fabric of Freedom
Share
Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman and John Brown-each a distinct thread in the fabric of the Republican party establishment and its anti-slavery platform: Lincoln as president and policy leader, Douglass as an influential orator an advisor, Tubman as a courageous activist and conductor of the Underground Railroad, and Brown as a radical abolitionist who inspired action. Each played unique roles in ending slavery and were connected to the early Republican Party. All risked their lives for freedom, with two dying in the cause.
